Comstock Pottery & Tile

Our pottery and tiles are inspired by the region around Silver City, Nevada, an area surrounded by ghost towns left behind by the Comstock Lode. Many dreams of hope and riches were left tumbling across the desert mountains like tumbleweeds. The animals, stunning scenery, and stories of Lake Tahoe, Nevada also inspire our tile and pottery designs.

Comstock for Nancy, the owner and ceramic artist, is about introducing traditional tile making and wheel throwing techniques to the Comstock region, preserving the pioneer spirit of hard work, vision, and hope. The blending of cultures and introducing others to skills that we learned when we were young. The satisfaction of making and demonstrating how to build functional pottery and tiles by hand and not in a factory setting in American Folk Art style. There is personal beauty to each item that evolves from a slab of clay to a local finished product.
