Ann Blackburn's Bookshelf

I love the high deserts of Nevada and living in Lamoille, Nevada provides both the rural atmosphere that I desire, and also access to the beautiful Ruby Mountains that loom over my head. This country has long been inspiration for my writing in the form of poetry, but I found a new challenge for myself in writing books and the best subjects became my beloved canines. This way I could both honor them and provide myself a means through which I could encourage others to treat animals and their environment with the care and respect that they deserve.

My pen name is Ann Blackburn.

In this book, you will meet Patches, a working dog who had a beautiful spirit and a huge heart. She managed to make the world around her a happier place and if all dogs were allowed to do this, the world would be better for it.

I smile as I watch her work,
focus intent upon her face,
as she crouches, then darts,
only to spin and run until
she feels her work is done
and the herd is in its place

Only then she will come to me
with her open, smiling face,
I can tell her over and over
what she still needs to hear
but again, I will gladly tell her
good cowgirl my dolly

Through my books, I not only hope to honor E-Sup, Daza and Patches, but I also hope to encourage the better care and treatment of all animals. They all deserve love and respect.
