Chris & Nita Taylor, owners of Pleasant Valley Farm, were born and raised in Northern Nevada and have a passion for raising vegetables the natural way as well as educating people on the why’s and how’s of buying local, chemical-free, non-genetically-altered food.
The self-sustaining farm uses composting worms to make compost/fertilizer, using and recycling anything and everything they can. They pollinate with their own bees; save seeds using heirloom varieties; pull weeds and pick bugs by hand; and harvest, inspect and package all their produce. The Taylors grow a variety of seasonal veggies and herbs from early spring to fall using low tunnels, a hoop house and a greenhouse.
You can find their products at their farmstand, local farmers markets, Great Basin Community Food Co-op and a few local restaurants. You can also join their adaptable CSA that offers several options for purchasing their produce.
